All tutorials, including images, remain the property of Arizona Kate and may not be sold or distributed in any format without purchasing a license from ArizonaKate.com Graphics Groups & individuals ... please read the terms and FAQ before using tutorials. This tutorial was written for Paint Shop Pro version 7 and the tubes that are included with PSP 7. Also, a small part of the tutorial uses vectors....which are only available in PSP 6 or 7. The goal of this project is to challenge our imaginations by creating a tube painting using only the tubes supplied with PSP 7 (plus a couple of buildings). However, the painting could be accomplished with older versions of PSP, a collection of similar tubes and freehand drawing in place of vector drawing.
This tutorial is suitable for beginner to intermediate users. The items needed are Paint Shop Pro and the new PSP 7 tube collection. You'll also need a farmhouse and a barn, plus the color swatch that can be downloaded from page 2 of this tut. Before we start, let's review the following program notes:
In accordance with the new terminology used in PSP 7, the foreground and background color swatch boxes will be referred to as Stroke for the outline/foreground color and Fill for the background color. If you purchased the downloaded version of PSP 7 and don't have the tubes provided on the CD, you can get them at jasc.com. The new tubes include corn, wheat, trees, dandelions, and a lot more. In this tutorial I will ask you to right click (RC) to select most of the menu choices or will call out the standard menu choices. You can do many of these same actions using keyboard shortcuts or buttons on the Tool Options Palette. In fact, quite often there will be at least 3 different ways you can do the same action in Paint Shop Pro. For example, clicking the Node Edit button has the same effect as right clicking to select 'Node Edit'. Today we'll use RC and the pop up dialog boxes. After a while, you may decide you prefer one of the other methods and you'll settle in to your own way of doing things. If you are using a pen tablet, you can right click using the clicker on the side of the pen. If this doesn't seem to work, you may have to change the tablet settings. Permission is herein granted for individuals to save or print this tutorial for personal use only...please do not distribute by email or otherwise. Too many free tutorials have been taken offline because of copyright abuse! We don't want to see them all disappear, do we? The ethical thing to do is to link to the tutorial only.
Most of the text and images for this tutorial are located on a second, printer friendly page, however, I would prefer you linked to or bookmarked THIS start page, not the following page. Thank you! Any changes to tut will be noted here. Note: After surveying many tutorial users...it seems the majority prefer tutorials that are on one long page rather than multiple short pages...and I agree! This makes it easier to print out or save for offline use...however, it also means it will take a little longer for my tutorial pages to load...please be patient! |
